StareastNet Joins in Singapore's TV Competition
Hey, check out this news!! MDWAV cast coming to Singapore to shoot a vampire show!?!?! Did it ever happen? Cause it's reported in 2000 leh. Till now, i dun seem to have seen the show. Or are they still writing it? Wow.. Real or not???
This paper is the first to reveal that StarEast will send Eric Tsang together with others to Singapore in May this year. They will join in the TV productions there! Due to the recent changes made to the Singapore TV industry, a new TV station has emerged. The upcoming fierce competition has forced both parties to bring in talents from overseas to aid them and boost their strengths. In preparation to challenge StarEast's station in Singapore, there has been secret arrangements for ex-ATV's My Date With A Vampire's cast to make their appearances in Singapore!
In Hong Kong, the 2 TV Stations, TVB and ATV, has been at loggerheads for years. Unexpectedly, such senarios in the TV scene has creeped to Singapore!
The only TV station (initially known as TCS, now known as Mediacorp) in Singapore, has been privatised earlier on. From May this year, the newer station, Mediaworks, has signed on StarEast to do 800 hours worth of tv productions yearly. On the other hand, to prepare itself for the challenge, the longer existing station has also began working on several big productions. According to reliable sources, Chan 13, the scriptwriter of My Date With A Vampire, who was initially negotiating cooperation plans with ATV, has been warmly invited to Mediacorp to work on a "Vampire" series in opposition to Tsang's StarEast plan!
Vampire Group Split in 2
Recently, Chan 13 set up a company on his own. Using the 2 Vampire series as his first strike, Chan 13 revealed that both ATV and Mediacorp has had negotiations regarding the series. He said: " I have discussed with ATV. Everything went on smoothly but we've not settled on it. I've also had discussions with the Singapore side. However, there are too many uncertainties now. As for the series, it will be a 40-episode series. I will try to rope in as many of the original cast of My Date With A Vampire as possible and also get some guest actors."
However, My Date With A Vampire's backstage group has been split into 2. Besides Chan 13, it's producer Sin Chi Wai has also set up his firm after leaving ATV. The later will not film the vampire series. Instead, he will work on a 20-episode science fiction series "In Touch With The Future" for his first strike.
Sin said: "Vampire is a classic. If there isn't a very good sript, I will not take part in it. In that case, why don't I start a new series? The new series will be a partnership with China's TV Station. The actors include, Wan Tin Chiu, Cheung Man Chi, Leung Wing Chung and several Chinese actors. We will commence work after the Chinese New Year and we will be filming in China as well as Japan."
